Marcotte Anderson commented on Benjamin Domenech's blog post On Journolist and Bias
"Rick, it could be I devolve to the level of my debate opposite. I can't think of a time when I haven't taken Ben's arguments seriously. He always presents them in a sound and professional matter. Likewise, you and Jim, most of the…"

"Marcotte, I'll give you credit for coming up with two occasions when you took conservative/classical liberal ideas seriously. As for the other several dozen I've witnessed, well ...."

Ronald A. Lau commented on Benjamin Domenech's blog post On Journolist and Bias
"The difference is that conservatives are not afraid to discuss their idea in the open, where as these Liberals realize they need to do it in secret. The Left bemoans a vast right wing conspiracy, while having no proof. The Right points out the…"

Marcotte Anderson commented on Benjamin Domenech's blog post On Journolist and Bias
"What bothers me more than it should is that it appears that you view just about every conservative position as little more than a talking point. Oh come Rick. Give me a little more credit than that. There are a lot of conservative and libertarian…"

Rick Henderson commented on Benjamin Domenech's blog post On Journolist and Bias
"Marcotte, you come at these issues from the left. I approach them from the right. We disagree about major principles and view the world in quite different ways. What bothers me more than it should is that it appears that you view just about every…"

Marcotte Anderson commented on Benjamin Domenech's blog post On Journolist and Bias
"Funny, I could say the same thing about a lot of the liberals I read. A matter of perspective, I suppose. It could be perspective I suppose. No doubt it happens on both sides. It just seems more concentrated (and effective) when done by the Right. I…"

Rick Henderson commented on Benjamin Domenech's blog post On Journolist and Bias

Ronald A. Lau commented on Benjamin Domenech's blog post On Journolist and Bias
"It's a vast left wing conspiracy. Rev. Jeremiah Wright scandal: Spencer Ackerman demanded that they start randomly picking conservatives -- "Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares -- and call them racists." Ackerman, frequent guest on…"

Joel Mathis commented on Benjamin Domenech's blog post On Journolist and Bias
"There are exceptions of course, but what's notable about the Journolist disclosures is how little we've heard of supposedly "straight" reporters acting in a biased way behind the scenes. Mostly what we've heard is bias from…"

On Journolist and Bias

The series of Daily Caller reports on the Journolist -- culled from the archives of the secretive email list which paired liberal academics, bloggers and think tank members with the mainstream media -- has not included many surprises for those who view any semblance of fairness or unbiased observation as the calling of the media as an unconvincing myth. So long and good riddance -- in a world where only 29% of…See More

Marcotte Anderson commented on Benjamin Domenech's blog post The Recess Appointment of Donald Berwick
"Hmm, my reading of that piece on the Bell nomination was that he got a hearing and (perhaps as a result of his testimony, or for other reasons) the committee declined to pass the nomination on to the full Senate for a vote. Whether or not they…"

Jim Lakely commented on Benjamin Domenech's blog post The Recess Appointment of Donald Berwick
"I stand corrected in that Bush didn't recess appoint anyone before a hearing was held. But where in that story does it say Warren Bell was rejected by a Senate committee? It says he was "stopped." Was there a vote? The story mentions…"

Marcotte Anderson commented on Benjamin Domenech's blog post The Recess Appointment of Donald Berwick
"Why take the risk that the GOP might score some points? Obama is smart enough to realize how good the Republicans are at shaping the story and staying on message. We would see 20 talking heads a night, all repeating the same talking points. As good…"

Berwick: "Don't Trust Market Forces," Trust "Leaders With Plans"

A few additional thoughts and additional video this morning on the late-night recess appointment of Donald Berwick:

-President Obama is not just circumventing the approval process, he's circumventing the "basic vetting standards" process -- Berwick is avoiding outstanding questions from the Senate,… Continue

The Recess Appointment of Donald Berwick

The White House's announcement today that they will bypass the nomination process of the United States Senate to recess appoint Donald Berwick as head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is an act of unconscionable hubris.

The White House claims this act is in response to "Washington game-playing", accusing Republicans of planning to "stall the nomination" as long as…
