Philadelphia Feedom: City of Brotherly Love Imposes Licensing Fees for Bloggers

Yeah, you read that right. The Washington Examiner's Mark Hemingway reports
that the cradle of U.S. liberty imposes $300 licensing fees on the city's

bloggers.

With apologies to Sir Elton and lyricist Bernie Taupin:

I used to be a blogging drone, you know

Every day I’d write
About anything that mattered to me
I used to do this gig free for everyone

But the times have changed
The less I pay the less my work gets done

Cause I just got slammed with Philadelphia feedom

And now I pay three hundred dollars what a drag

Philadelphia feedom costs me more than I can stand
Took away the freedoms I used to have

Oh Philadelphia feedom taxes me, I hate you

Shine a light on the those who’ll tax you blind
Buy the license or pay a fine
Buy the license or pay a fine
Philadelphia feedom I despise you, yes I do

If it seems you can’t choose to be left alone
Some official taxes us, it’s a pity
Or they charge you for a license to work in your home
I liked living easy from government ties
Until the vulture of feedom zapped me
Right between the eyes

Oh Philadelphia feedom taxes me, I hate you

Shine a light on the those who’ll tax you blind
Buy the license or pay a fine
Buy the license or pay a fine
Philadelphia feedom I despise you, yes I do

What if I'm not in Phily, but I blog about Phily?

I'm a blogger in Philadelphia, and, well: They'll get my $300 when they pry it from my cold, dead hands.
