In light of today's unemployment report... some thoughts on the President's economic team

The unemployment rate is up to 9.6% although we did add 67K workers last month. But I think this is the side story. The real story here is that the President's economic team keeps getting it wrong.

The obvious first straw was Christina Romers prediction that unemployment would top out at 8%. Much has been said about that prediction, and it eventually led to her leaving the White House. But what about everybody else. Remember this was supposed to be the recovery summer. It's September. Recovery Summer was supposed to be "be the most active Recovery Act season yet" with a "surge in Recovery Act infrastructure projects that will be underway across the country."

How did Recovery Summer turn out? A net loss of 283,000 jobs.

The problem isn't that one person got one prediction wrong. It's that the whole team keeps getting all of the predictions wrong. The problem is that the team evidently does not understand what they're dealing with, nor do they understand the impacts of the policies they're putting into place. This is what will eventually doom the Democrat majorities in Congress.
